This little wash only runs after some considerable precipitation.
Maybe ten times a year.
After the pour-over, the water flumes through this narrow channel.
A couple of bends later it cascades over these temporary falls.
Whatever doesn’t evaporate will end up in the valley below.
At least for a little while.

That’s pretty cool–what beautiful countryside. It is amazing what a bit of water can bring to life!
So beautiful and sensual. Those smooth red rocks beg to be touched and I can hear the water rushing. How I would love to be hiking in Sedona today.
Absolutely lovely. I was thinking how I wish I could be there. On a hike. Magnificent, Paul.
Sigh. What a gorgeous place to hike. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos.
Those red rocks are just amazing. We’ve got a natural falls about an hour away that is usually fairly dry, this year it was gushing (it’s in the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, and has a resident pair of balck eagles who breed regularly)
Your Arizona trip looks so beautiful, Paul
Judy (South Africa)
Gosh these are some gorgeous shots! Your pose made me a little nervous…didn’t want you to fall in…lol…*smile*
I never saw pics of a temporary fall before.
That red rock is gorgeous.
Love the photos! We have a small seasonal creek in the trees beside our house. There’s a trickle of water in it most of the year, except for the hottest days of mid-summer, but after a heavy rain it swells to quite a respectable size. No waterfall, though, and nothing as picturesque as yours. Those red rocks are gorgeous. Such a beautiful scene!
gorgeous…I’m getting more envious of your home-away-from-home.
