1. I came home from a long run and found the guy in the above photo in the kitchen. I persuaded him to get into a plastic container, then set him on the back patio.
2. Scorpion Sting Update: One month later and the very tip of my pinky finger is still a bit numb.
3. I haven’t told you my number one sting story yet, but I probably will soon.
4. Thanks to some great critique notes from Terry, ali, Natalie, and Robert I’m plowing through a rewrite of one of my WIPs.
5. When my internet connection was on the blink last week I got a lot of writing done. Still, I’m glad to be reconnected.
6. This last thing sounds deceptively simple: The best way to plan for the future is to live in the present.

I’d rather not find creepy crawlers of any kind in my home… I resent them encroaching on my territory when they have ample room outdoors.
Glad to hear your rewrite is going well. It’s amazing how much work you can get done when you stay offline, isn’t it?
That cricket is pretty crazy- reminds me of a wasp I saw in Greece last summer. We called him Demeon the Demon Bug because he was so big.
That’s one good thing about AK- very few bugs! (And no scorpions!)
Uh, yeah, he’s buff, uh-huh. You can run into some crazy critters.
My mom was stung by a scorpion when I was little. They’re mighty.
Glad you have great betas. Me too. Have a great week.
We should all have our Internet go down for a few days–imagine the possibilities!! Welcome back.
“The best way to plan for the future is to live in the present.”
YES! So true.
And wow, that cricket is impressive!
Good luck with the rewrites.
I accidentally crushed this guy’s slightly less buff cousin when he hopped up my jeans in October. It was pretty nasty. Number 6 is great advice, that I try my best to follow.
absolutely. live in the present.
your buff bug looks like some sort of Assassin bug.
I think I need my internet connection to go out. I’m sure I would get a lot done. Welcome back to the blogging world.
I love the last one! Those are definitely some words to live by.
I don’t see crickets where I am. They sort of look like roaches.
That’s a long time for your pinky to still be numb.
I sometimes unplug from the internet to get loads of writing done.
That cricket does look like he’s pumping iron. Hmm..
Sorry your finger isn’t 100% normal yet. I’ve heard with nerve endings, the sensation can take up to a year to come back. Hope yours comes back soon.
Yes, I’d be a lot more productive if my internet went down. But I love connecting!
That cricket is a beast. We feed live crickets to my kids’ leopard gecko’s, and we’ve had them escape into the house before. Ick.
I’m am sooo curious about your sting story. It must be a doozie.
I guess I shouldn’t complain about the bugs we get in New England. Scorpions, cockroaches, black widows, rattle snakes – sound pretty scary to me!
That is quite a bug. Such a novelty too to see them this time of year. Thanks for sharing – and the living in the present reminder.
Ooh. I liked that last one. Sounded like a something a Kung Fu master would say. But why am I surprised? YOU are the master.
I’m not so sure that’s a cricket. Kind of resembles a rino.
That’s one crazy bug. My kids would love to see that!
That is one SERIOUS cricket!!
I have to admit to a fascination with bugs. That is one cool photo! Sounds like you are having entomology fun down there!
