Sometimes you write what you know. And likewise, sometimes you photograph what is around you. And if you only have a tiny video function on your camera, you use it. Yes, people, I’m thinking of getting a real video camera. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments. Thanks.
But first, check out these brief clips of my friend, Mr. Moose. Yes, this moose is a young boy, probably born this past spring. Last Wednesday he was pretty musical with those wind chimes. This week he’s on to break dancing, and rumor has it that he’s applied for a driver’s license.
Would you dance with this moose? Would you let him drive?

Paul, I love this moose. Tell him that for me, will ya? I would love to dance with him, but I would hope he wouldn’t step on my toes? He’s quite the party boy.
I can’t wait for you to get a REAL video camera. How’z about a Kodak Playsport? It’s waterproof and you get great quality videos. Whichever one you choose, I can’t wait to see the videos.
You live in THE coolest place. I love visiting your blog because it always makes me feel a small sense of being there.
He’s a cutie. Have you given him a name yet? Can’t get a driver’s license without a name!
Yes, I agree with Carol; he needs a name. And of course I would dance with him. He’s probably better at it than I am. Maybe he could teach me a thing or two.
LOL, I looked at the first pic too fast–thought it was a horse with a REALLY wonky head. Oops.
I’ve never seen a moose, though they do wander through upstate NY here and there…
BTW, I probably wouldn’t dance with the moose. Unless he doesn’t mind me mimicking Elaine from Seinfeld. (Yeah, I’m SO not coordinated.)
Noooo no dancing with moose for me.
I’m a tad bit scared of a beast that large. Especially since one chased me a couple years ago. (shudder)
I love, love, love moose! I have no idea why, but I have always loved them.
Awww!! Squeee for cuteness.
We went to Maine for 3 weeks this summer…and while I loved it (except the bugs), my greatest disappointment was that we saw nary a moose. And I tried! (well, unless you count the stuffed moose and other assorted Maine moose ephemera being sold everywhere)
I determined, after my mooseless Maine vacation, that the moose, at least in Maine, is like the unicorn.
And, you mentioned on my blog that you might get snow tomorrow. Better you than me.
Happy Moosey Wednesday,
Lola
He certainly seems to have moved in to your backyard! Great stuff!
I want to hug the moose, not dance with him. Unless he’d hurt me. Hmmm…maybe I’ll just watch your video clips of him and hug my dogs.
I looooove this moose! Um, but, no, I wouldn’t dance with it… I’ve heard too much about trampling moose. One of my nieces, on the other hand, would tell you in detail, a la her favorite book, what happens if you give a moose a muffin.
After reading Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, I will only avoid any moose I come across. But from a distance, I appreciate them.
I’ve only ever seen a moose in the wild twice. I love it when wildlife gets up and personally, but only if I’m safely behind glass.
Just like the other adolescents I know! So brilliant and a little like a loose cannon. Certainly makes life exciting. Thanks for sharing – wonderful as always.
That guy reminds me of a teenager.
A little skittish, but ultimately too lazy to bother running away. And messy. Very, very messy.
The other day one of our huge birds flew over the house and I recalled with my husband how scared I was of all the creatures when I first moved here–then I told him about your moose in your backyard. Wow. What kind of damage can it do?
I’ve never seen a moose out in the wild before; I’ve seen them on TV, online, in a zoo, (I think) etc., of course, but not wild. That’s so cool.
It must be fascinating to live with a moose outside. Although I would worry about the possible damages . . .
Looks like this moose is getting pretty chummy with you. While, I might dance with him, I would not let him drive my car. Of course, this does make me think of the children’s picture book “If You Give a Moose a Muffin” not that the moose does any driving, but as I recall he does put on a puppet show. Anyway, I think the moral is if you give a moose an inch he’ll take a mile or something like that!
